Position Summary
The Software Application Manager is responsible for the strategy, development, implementation, and ongoing support of business applications that enable operational excellence across a multi-site manufacturing organization. This role leads a small internal development team and oversees the lifecycle of internally developed and third-party business applications.
The position focuses on application delivery, systems optimization, integration, and business alignment. This role does not have responsibility for ERP, cybersecurity, network infrastructure, or hardware systems.
Compensation: $120,000 - $132,000, the actual salary the successful candidate is offered will be dependent on several factors related to the specified position.

Key Responsibilities
Application Strategy & Governance
Develop and execute the application roadmap aligned with business objectives and digital transformation initiatives.
Partner with Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing leadership to identify automation and system improvement opportunities.
Establish application governance standards, documentation protocols, and development best practices.
Manage the application portfolio, ensuring scalability, reliability, and business continuity.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead and mentor a team of four developers.
Assign and prioritize development workload based on business impact and capacity.
Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and skills development planning.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, documentation, and code quality.
Application Development & Support
Oversee full software development lifecycle (SDLC): requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
Review code and architectural decisions to ensure scalability and maintainability.
Ensure proper change management, version control, and testing processes are followed.
Support troubleshooting and resolution of application-related issues.
Manage system integrations between CPQ, CRM, Order Entry, E-Com, ERP, MES, BI tools, and other operational systems.
Partner with Operations to optimize the manufacturing application functionality.
Support reporting, dashboards, and data integrity across financial and operational systems.
Oversee customizations, extensions, and integration layers.
Evaluate third-party application vendors and coordinate implementations when required.
Partner with Group IT on global applications and digital initiatives
Project & Stakeholder Management
Manage multiple concurrent application projects.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications.
Provide regular status reporting to VP of Finance & IT.
Manage external consultants or contract developers when needed.
Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Data & Reporting Enablement
Support data integration and reporting solutions for operational and financial decision-making.
Collaborate with Finance leadership on business intelligence initiatives.
Ensure data accuracy and system integrity within supported applications.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
7+ years of application development experience.
3+ years in a leadership or team management role.
Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
Experience supporting multiple systems and system integrations.
Technical Skills
Full-stack development knowledge (web, database, API integration).
Experience with SQL databases.
Familiarity with ERP platforms common in manufacturing.
Understanding of SDLC, DevOps practices, and version control.
Experience with reporting/BI tools preferred.
Leadership & Business Skills
Strong business acumen, particularly in manufacturing and finance processes.
Ability to translate technical concepts into business language.
Strong project management and prioritization skills.
Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
Excellent communication skills across functional departments.
